Profiles of our volunteers

Jeff Geiger did his Kent State School of Library and Information Studies practicum in Special Collections in the spring of 2003, creating an ebook edition of Charles W. Whittlesey's 1867 landmark work Early History of Cleveland. The first book-length of the city, it preserves the stories of the first explorers, missionaries and settlers of Cleveland and puts the city in the wider context of the early geology and prehistory of the region. It includes original surveys of Cleveland and the Western Reserve, when both were still wilderness, and details the early days of the city through the coming of the Ohio and Erie Canal.

A recent (May 2003) graduate of Kent State's School of Library and Information Science, Jeff lives in Grafton, OH with his wife, dog, and one house rabbit that cannot seem to stay out of trouble. He enjoys reading, traveling and skiing and has a BA in history from Montana.
