The Hanna Theater Curtain was sent out for conservation assessment in 2007 and is now being stored, indefinitely inaccessible for viewing. When we know what it will cost to perform the necessary preservation treatment and perhaps have it mounted somewhere for long-term viewing, we will probably need to conduct a fundraising drive. Comments, questions and suggestions are appreciated and may be sent to the Special Collections Librarian at w.barrow@csuohio.edu, or telephoned to him at (216) 687-6998. |
The Hanna Theater Curtain as it hung backstage at the Hanna Theater, in 1971. The curtain is crowded with drawings, posters, signatures and pictures from "West Side Story, "Play It Again Sam," "Canterbury Tales, "The Music Man," "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown," and other plays and musicals. Notice the many original drawings from "Kismet" and other shows; this original, irreplaceable artwork makes the curtain special.
Another view of the "Kismet" drawing from the 1965 production, which featured Farley Granger and Chester Morris. Also visible: drawings from "Beyond the Fringe" and "Second City."
The cast of "Godspell" puts its logo on the Hanna Theater Curtain, 1973. Also visible: Original artwork from "Damn Yankees," "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever," and "Fiorello!"

An original drawing of Patrice Munsel, star of the operetta, "The Merry Widow," is one of many such drawings which make the curtain priceless.
