Magazine Editor, 17, Admits Dope Charges

The 17-year-old coeditor of The Weed, a literary magazine aimed at teen-agers, was judged delinquent yesterday in Juvenile Court.

The shaker Heights boy was one of four juveniles, including a 17-year-old Cleveland Heights girl, admitting to narcotics charges.

The magazine was published only twice and composed mainly of poetry. The first issue was published at Hawken, School, a private boys’ school. The second and last issue was run off a mimeograph machine in the basement of indicted poet D. A. Levy’s residence, the youth said.

"ARE YOU STILL attending Hawken School?" Asst. County Prosecutor George J. Moscarino asked the boy.

"No," he answered. The boy said he had been expelled because he was involved in the narcotics scandal.

"What is the meaning of the name, The Weed?" Moscarino asked.

"No real significance. We used it because we thought it funny."

WHEN ASKED if the term "weed" also meant cigarette, mainly a marijuana cigarette, the youth said he thought so.
