D.A. Levy Faces New Charges

Darryl A. Levy (d. a. levy) was arrested yesterday afternoon by Cleveland detectives on five counts of contributing to the delinquency of two minors at a poetry reading Nov. 15, 1966, at The Gate in the basement of Trinity Cathedral.

The poet is also awaiting trial on a charge of publishing and dispersing obscene literature, stemming from a secret indictment of the Cuyahoga County Grand jury last November.

According to George J. Moscarino, an assistant county prosecutor, Levy had gone underground after being released on $2,500 bond Jan. 16. He was picked up yesterday at 13807 Savannah Avenue, East Cleveland. East Cleveland police accompanied Cleveland detectives making the arrest.

THE NEW CHARGES against Levy are based on the poetry reading, as well as statements made by the two juveniles to Moscarino, following appearances of a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy in Juvenile Court in connection with alleged use of drugs by teen-agers.

Specifically, Levy is charged with accepting immoral and indecent poetry from the boy and publishing it, as well as reading and distributing it at the coffee house.

The other two counts charge 24-year-old poet with giving the poetry to the girl and reading it to her.

If convicted on all five counts, Levy could be fined $5,000 and sent to prison for 5 years.
