Press Photographs on the Web
Increasingly photographs from the Cleveland Press Collection are being used in web sites here at the Cleveland State University Library. Here are just a few samples:

"Great Lakes Industrial History Collection" -- Images from the Press Collection of shipping, river commerce and ports & harbors along Lake Erie.

"Cuyahoga On-Line Exhibition" -- Images from this extensive site documenting a variety of the effects which the Cuyahoga River has had upon the communities along its banks. Yes, the infamous Cuyahoga River fires are here.

"Garrett A. Morgan and the Water Crib Tunnel Explosion" -- Images of black Cleveland inventor Garrett Morgan during and after his heroic rescue of trapped workers during the Cleveland Waterworks explosion on 25 July 1916.

"Earl Keyes, Jr.: 'Mr. Jingaling'" -- A tribute to the man best known to most adults in the Cleveland area for his role as the Christmas locksmith elf, Mr. Jingaling, "the keeper of the keys," for Halle's Department Store in the 60's and 70's.

"Eliot Ness in Cleveland" -- Photos of Eliot Ness, Cleveland's safety director, and legendary director of "The Untouchables", who brought about the conviction of Chicago mobster Al Capone.

"Shakespeare Photographs from the Press Collection" -- Over 400 images featuring regional production companies: Cleveland's Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival, the Stratford Festival in Ontario, Canada and others; as well as motion pictures & televised productions.

"Yesterday's Lakewood" -- Hundreds of photographs of Lakewood, Ohio, mostly from the Press Collection.
