Description: "Below Crosby's Mill in the canal valley, the water from the (two mile) Cascade Race (leading from a diversion dam on the Little Cuyahoga River at Middlebury... to the canal valley in Akron) could be used over and over to power two iron furnaces, a textile machinery plant, a distillery, and the lathes of a furniture maker. Although no photographs of these industries survive, the scene shown (here) in the nearby industrial valley of Cuyahoga Falls must look similar."
