The Canal Era:
Advertisements

The First directory of Cleveland and Ohio City 1837, compiled by Julius P. Bolivar MacCabe, contained advertisements for staples, luxury goods, and transportation, often related to the Ohio & Erie Canal. The following ads are from a version of the Directory which was reproduced and presented by The Guardian Savings and Trust Company. (Cleveland: The Company, 1908.)
